Anti Gravity Magnetic Levitation: The dice are held aloft with a magnetic force that is derived from an electrical current, hence the reason for the power cord. There is a small spherical magnetic inclusion within each die that reacts to the force from the base to keep them aloft. Non-metal objects can pass through the area and under the dice without disturbing them. Magnetic metal objects have the potential to disturb the magnetic field, so can cause the dice to shift or fall.
A patented arrangement of magnets, coils, sensors and electronics in the base keeps it levitating in mid-air.
